Our little red hen is a really working hard! Not only did she plant and reap the wheat, she also ground the grain, kneaded the dough and baked the bread. This traditional story from America has been adapted by Sandra and she made a sweet song that accompanies out friends, hen, dog, cat and the pig.

🎶 The Little Red Hen - Lyrics!
Once upon a time there was a Little Red Hen who lived on a farm.
One morning she found some grains of wheat in the barnyard.
She turned to animals in the barnyard, asking them: “Who will help me plant these grains of wheat?”
“Not I,” said the dog.
“Not I,” said the cat.
“Not I,” said the pig.
“Then I’ll do it myself,” said the little red hen.
She planted the grains of wheat and watered the soil.
When the grain grew tall, the Little Red Hen asked the animals:
“Who will help me harvest the wheat?”
“Not I,” said the dog.
“Not I,” said the cat.
“Not I,” said the pig.
“Well then,” said the Little Red Hen, “I will do it.”
Then she cut down the wheat all by herself.
It was hard work, and she was very tired so again, she asked:
“Who will help me take the wheat to the mill to get it ground into flour?”
“Not I,” said the dog.
“Not I,” said the cat.
“Not I,” said the pig.
“Well then,” said the Little Red Hen, “I will.”
She went to the mill, ground the wheat into flour, and carried the big sack of flour home. Then, the Little Red Hen asked the animals:
“Who will help me make this flour into bread?”
“Not I,” said the dog.
“Not I,” said the cat.
“Not I,” said the pig.
“All right” said the Little Red Hen, “I will do it myself.”
She mixed the dough and put it in the oven.
Soon, the smell of warm bread was in the breeze.
The Little Red Hen took the bread out and asked the animals:
“Who will help me eat the bread?”
“I will!” said the dog
“I will!” said the cat
“I will!” said the pig.
“Oh, no, you won’t,” she said.
“I planted the grains of wheat, harvested the wheat, took it to the mill, grounded it into flour, carried the flour home and baked the bread. So, I will eat the bread myself.”
And that’s what she did.
The cat, the dog and the pig were thinking how they could have enjoyed the bread if only they had helped with the chores...🎶
